InterContinental Resort & Spa Moorea[/b]
Close to Opunohu Bay on the northeast coast of the island, sheltered from the prevailing winds, the InterContinental Resort and Spa Moorea is located voluptuously between the mountains and lagoon.
Situated in the heart of a verdant setting of 11 hectares (27 acres), these magnificent gardens contain 165 different species of trees, plants and flowers.
Confided to the talented hands of French architect Pierre-Jean Picart, who loves Polynesia, the hotel underwent a big renovation project that was finished in September 2002, with very pleasing results.
The 17 Garden Suite Bungalows, the 50 Overwater and 28 Beach Suite Bungalows(also called "fare"), as well as the 48 Garden View Rooms, were all decorated with a concern of combining a respect for the local traditions with non-conspicuous contemporary luxury. Noble woods and natural materials were elegantly used in the decor. These include parquet or bamboo, Mйranti of Indonesia partitions, mahogany and wicker furniture and natural coloured wall coverings. The furniture of distinguished and original lines, as well as objects made from Tahitian arts and crafts, (paintings, tapas...) compose a refined and harmonious ensemble and reinforce the Polynesian identity of this dream hotel. The only impediment to tradition (for the comfort of our guests), are the "fare" and rooms are all provided with a very modern air-conditioning system.
